Time takes its toll, in various ways. I just turned 60 (hooray…?) and perhaps I’m beginning to feel it. 2025 was a tough one for me: for the first time in my life a series of different health issues and crises, including one hospitalization and its complications, struck me and pretty throughly messed up my happy, steady life.
Everything took a hit: reading, watching movies, exercising – and music, both listening and writing about it. And as my job can be cognitively demanding – you try responsible AI and AI ethics for a living – there was little gas in my tank for keeping this blog going.
But now, as things have thankfully settled to what I consider my “normal”, I decided to loosen up a bit with this blog.
I have loved writing long and detailed commentaries on albums but that takes some time and energy. So I thought I might keep this going better if I focused on sharing my impressions and feelings about music instead of trying to play an expert critic or something like that.
So, shorter commentaries more about sharing my vibe (and isn’t “vibe” a hot word right now?) than attempting to dive deep into music I myself can’t play. I’m a very good amateur rock drummer, but that’s a whole different ball game.
I have settled into a diary format, each posting a page from my “music diary”. I believe this is more fun for me and still gives you guys enough information on an album to decide if you might be interested to hear and hopefully purchase it, if you really like it – support your favorite folk music folks, people!
Thanks for reading and your patience. Stay tuned and take it easy (I know I will 😊✌️)
